   The Gardens

A dedicated horticulturist, Anna Head belonged to the Garden Club of Alameda and the U.C. Botanical Club, and helped found the Berkeley Garden Club. She took delight in establishing beautiful gardens wherever she lived and encouraged her students to do the same: "Children are given little gardens of their own, which they plant and care for themselves."

She was one of the first to value California native plants.
